Low-tech game is a hit at Mayfair
Low-tech game is a hit at Mayfair 5/10 GPR. Not sure why it's so high on the GPR...I really have to learn what that's all about.
READ THIS BLOG: THE PEICES ARE STARTING TO COME TOGETHER...IT HAS TO BE BIG OR IT WON'T BE ANYTHING.
An article on Kubb that's in every directory from here to kingdom come...because it's in DMOZ.
The original was printed on mcall.com. The html for this articles has just been copied and hijacked over to oldtimegames.homestead.com whose site has a 3/10 GPR. Their email is kubb@oldtimegames.com.
Several times websites have refered to these guys as their US ditributor...Do they manufacture the junk?
You can purchase their Kubb sets through paypal. Starting at $68.00 and ending at $137.00 they have 6 possible products and they put shipping costs up on the site, ex: Ash game $55.00 + $13.00 (shipping) =$68.00. I think it would be better to say "$68.00 + free shipping."
Their price page (http://oldtimegames.homestead.com/game.html) conflicts with their order page...kinda confusing.
Have an accessories page (http://oldtimegames.homestead.com/accessories.html) that sells bags for the Kubb set. Perhaps ours should come with a bag.
They also have an 800 number (Phone: 800 - 833 - 1448). Is that going to be necessary? Perhaps yes. What could we use it for? Mostly ordering...or we could use it to collect stories or conduct interviews of "Kubb Masters."
There are 10 links to tourneys and related Kubb stuff. Not all links work.

http://www.americanswedish.org/ 6/10 GPR The American Swedish Historical Museum, located in FDR Park in South Philadelphia near the Sports Complex at 1900 Pattison Avenue (Perhaps we struck a vein on this site)...
Here's a link on that site to Swedish links (http://www.americanswedish.org/sites.html). Perhaps there's a strong market center. If we focus on the Swedish Americans and the places THEY can be located we can generate some good word of mouth through them and their friends etc...
I signed up for their mailing list for things happening at the museum under kubbin_com@yahoo.com.
http://scandinaviandayil.com/ 2/10 GPR. We could send people out to these Scandinavian and Swedish fests and have them give reports to our users. We need to have culture articles and urge users to tell their traditions...perhaps deviate a little from Kubb, but still keep it as our central theme. We could have a Scandinavian sub culture going on inside Kubbin.com.
Man, the deeper I dig the more places there are for this whole Kubbin.com thing to go...We could go ourselves to festivals such as the Springville World Folk Fest. We could get some free publicity by doing up a little article on "the little business from UVSC" each time we go demo and sell some Kubb games. Here's some sites that are an example of further research to do on the different lines of distribution: http://www.mayfairfestival.org/ 5/10 GPR.
http://www.scanfest.org/ 5/10 GPR.
These sites are rich resources! We need someone to gather a bunch of these festivals and we can start out locally by going around to the diffent ones and demo-ing Kubb....like they do here: http://www.scanfest.org/Zvikings/vikings.html
There's a bunch of Swedish links here: http://www.scanfest.org/Zsweden/sweden.html
Old Time Games seems to be everywhere, perhaps the major competetor in Kubb related things. Here's where they're located at:
1915 Fawn Lane
Quakertown, PA 18951
E-mail: oldtimegames@aol.com
Just a couple of other sites from random places:
http://www.hroyal.de/ 4/10 GPR. Here's the HRoyal Alstars Kubb Team 2002. Perhaps we could get some teams boards up.
http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/suvisarka/kubb.html 2/10 GPR. Not German or Dutch. Got some unique pics to describe how the game is played.
http://www.localpin.com/static/term/kubb.htm 2/10, not a big deal, but perhaps we could have someone go around and submit our site to every obscure place on the net...create some good spam protectors on the page, ie don't have the email just laying around in text. make each one an image, or else find another way to stop spiders from scouring your site and harvesting emails.
The above link was the last link searched under http://www.eniro.se/query?what=web&q=kubb&partnerid=passagen&stq=70. It was the 75th entry under that search engine for the word kubb. Most of the results related to the game, although a search for kubb game I admit may be more relevant.
Lastly there's Google search result (kubb game) # 83 of about 2420 results: http://www.schoolcarnivals.com/Games/By_Theme/themecultural.htm 2/10 GPR. This site has simple games descriptions from all over the world. All english, thank goodness.
