Festival Network Online

Festival Network Online 3/10 GPR. list of all the festivals around...we could sift through this for relevant ones.

Idlewild Recordings.com, Celtic music

Idlewild Recordings.com, Celtic music: 4/10 GPR. Looks like a very interesting site. Celtic music. They have played all over Utah. Their site has a list of folk festivals and concerts that they played at:

"The Utah Arts Festival - 1999, 2000, 2001. The Park City Arts Festival - 1999. Music in the Mountains (Park City) - 1993, 94, 95, 96. The Festival of the American West - 1993, 94. Kubb-Klub

Kubb-Klub 3/10 GPR. This is a subsite of the nicely done German site: kubb-spiel.de

Here's an example of their forum/message board....gotta get that up and running!

KUBBSPEL

KUBBSPEL 2/10 GPR from NL. Pretty cool what you can find when you search a Swedish site for Kubb (http://www.eniro.se/query?partnerid=passagen&q=kubb&what=web)!

Nice site. Simple, good graphics and in Dutch! Once the site gets up and going we should come back here and get our link put up...if they'll have it. In general we should offer our link to everyone that has a Kubb site, Swedish Culture site, and all the directories...

Lillkre Present AB

Lillkre Present AB 3/10 GPR. Okay, it's no longer fun that I can't describe these sites...I'm going to have to have someone who knows what the heck they say do some more research, or else learn some more languages.

Kubb

Kubb 3/10 GPR. Denmark page perhaps?

Kubbregler

Kubbregler 3/10 GPR. Again, I don't know what the heck, but it's a simple site decribing Kubb and how to play.

Kubb - susning.nu

Kubb - susning.nu 2/10 GPR. I have ho heck of a clue what it says , but perhaps I can in the future.

BRAMA Snickeri

BRAMA Snickeri 4/10 GPR. These guys sell Kubb and have 7 different colors. They are the colors of different countries.

Herresalongen - For menn med sansen for det gode liv! - Kubb - rets grillsport

Herresalongen - For menn med sansen for det gode liv! - Kubb - rets grillsport 0/10 GPR, but it looks like it's a Swedish article on Kubb.

SKÅNEKUBBEN

5/10 GPR. Man I wish I could read Swedish! It looks like some of the more traditional sets have a highly detailed King pin...perhaps this could be our "special" or trademark set in the future, when we manufacture our own.

freshpics - JAKOTAs imageBase :: Kubb

freshpics - JAKOTAs imageBase :: Kubb 3/10 GPR. Picture site.

KUBB - das Spiel der Helden

KUBB - das Spiel der Helden 2/10 GPR leads to IPP site (3/10) where I got that nice little cartoon kubb guy that everyone likes so much.

i-Stores - UK's Secure Online Shopping Guide

i-Stores - UK's Secure Online Shopping Guide no GPR, but we can list our site here.

Rita Leydon's entry

Rita Leydon's entry 5/10 GPR. Now we're starting to get out of the Kubb realm and more into the Swedish culture. Perhaps writing articles about Swedish Culture will be more compelling than about Kubb. Besides, how many things can you write about Kubb?

American Swedish Historical Museum

American Swedish Historical Museum 6/10 GPR explained in the last blog titled: Low-tech game is a hit at Mayfair.

Low-tech game is a hit at Mayfair

Low-tech game is a hit at Mayfair 5/10 GPR. Not sure why it's so high on the GPR...I really have to learn what that's all about.

READ THIS BLOG: THE PEICES ARE STARTING TO COME TOGETHER...IT HAS TO BE BIG OR IT WON'T BE ANYTHING.

An article on Kubb that's in every directory from here to kingdom come...because it's in DMOZ.

The original was printed on mcall.com. The html for this articles has just been copied and hijacked over to oldtimegames.homestead.com whose site has a 3/10 GPR. Their email is kubb@oldtimegames.com.

Several times websites have refered to these guys as their US ditributor...Do they manufacture the junk?

You can purchase their Kubb sets through paypal. Starting at $68.00 and ending at $137.00 they have 6 possible products and they put shipping costs up on the site, ex: Ash game $55.00 + $13.00 (shipping) =$68.00. I think it would be better to say "$68.00 + free shipping."

Their price page (http://oldtimegames.homestead.com/game.html) conflicts with their order page...kinda confusing.

Have an accessories page (http://oldtimegames.homestead.com/accessories.html) that sells bags for the Kubb set. Perhaps ours should come with a bag.

They also have an 800 number (Phone: 800 - 833 - 1448). Is that going to be necessary? Perhaps yes. What could we use it for? Mostly ordering...or we could use it to collect stories or conduct interviews of "Kubb Masters."

There are 10 links to tourneys and related Kubb stuff. Not all links work.

http://www.vasaorder.com/GuestPages/Dist6/VikingsAreComingMod.htm 4/10 GPR.
http://www.americanswedish.org/ 6/10 GPR The American Swedish Historical Museum, located in FDR Park in South Philadelphia near the Sports Complex at 1900 Pattison Avenue (Perhaps we struck a vein on this site)...

Here's a link on that site to Swedish links (http://www.americanswedish.org/sites.html). Perhaps there's a strong market center. If we focus on the Swedish Americans and the places THEY can be located we can generate some good word of mouth through them and their friends etc...

I signed up for their mailing list for things happening at the museum under kubbin_com@yahoo.com.

http://scandinaviandayil.com/ 2/10 GPR. We could send people out to these Scandinavian and Swedish fests and have them give reports to our users. We need to have culture articles and urge users to tell their traditions...perhaps deviate a little from Kubb, but still keep it as our central theme. We could have a Scandinavian sub culture going on inside Kubbin.com.

Man, the deeper I dig the more places there are for this whole Kubbin.com thing to go...We could go ourselves to festivals such as the Springville World Folk Fest. We could get some free publicity by doing up a little article on "the little business from UVSC" each time we go demo and sell some Kubb games. Here's some sites that are an example of further research to do on the different lines of distribution: http://www.mayfairfestival.org/ 5/10 GPR.

http://www.scanfest.org/ 5/10 GPR.

These sites are rich resources! We need someone to gather a bunch of these festivals and we can start out locally by going around to the diffent ones and demo-ing Kubb....like they do here: http://www.scanfest.org/Zvikings/vikings.html

There's a bunch of Swedish links here: http://www.scanfest.org/Zsweden/sweden.html

Old Time Games seems to be everywhere, perhaps the major competetor in Kubb related things. Here's where they're located at:

1915 Fawn Lane
Quakertown, PA 18951
E-mail: oldtimegames@aol.com

Just a couple of other sites from random places:

http://www.hroyal.de/ 4/10 GPR. Here's the HRoyal Alstars Kubb Team 2002. Perhaps we could get some teams boards up.

http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/suvisarka/kubb.html 2/10 GPR. Not German or Dutch. Got some unique pics to describe how the game is played.

http://www.localpin.com/static/term/kubb.htm 2/10, not a big deal, but perhaps we could have someone go around and submit our site to every obscure place on the net...create some good spam protectors on the page, ie don't have the email just laying around in text. make each one an image, or else find another way to stop spiders from scouring your site and harvesting emails.

The above link was the last link searched under http://www.eniro.se/query?what=web&q=kubb&partnerid=passagen&stq=70. It was the 75th entry under that search engine for the word kubb. Most of the results related to the game, although a search for kubb game I admit may be more relevant.

Lastly there's Google search result (kubb game) # 83 of about 2420 results: http://www.schoolcarnivals.com/Games/By_Theme/themecultural.htm 2/10 GPR. This site has simple games descriptions from all over the world. All english, thank goodness.

Exhibitor Gallery Scandinavian Fest

Exhibitor Gallery Scandinavian Fest GPR 4/10. It appears that GPR does little to push you up the charts in a Google search. This on is 73rd.

We need to get a list of societies and organizations, places like: the Swedish Colonial Society. If we become the distributor for all these places and their official website we could rake in a little from a bunch of places and THAT equals success.

The reason I keep building this up to be bigger and bigger si because I don't believe that there's that much excitement for Kubb. Just from the websites that I've seen...or perhaps it's just not an organized excitement just yet. Well, wouldn't it be funny if we made a little money because we organized it?

It looks real fun. I've never played it yet, but with all the effort I'm putting in perhaps it will be the funnest game that I've ever played.

viking kubb

viking kubb 3/10 GPR. Mainly a purchase site. In German.

Artikelbezeichnung EUR
"KUBE" aus Buche, 21-tlg im Rucksack 49,90
2751 "KUBE" aus Buche, 21-tlg in Tragetasche 47,00

Just a little observation: Many of the Kubb links in Google come from the vast number of directories that use DMOZ. They all include the same 4 or 5 Kubb sites: gardengames.com, javascriptkubb, vikingfest.com, vmkubb.com and some Kubb article.

Sweden 2001 - our camp diary

Sweden 2001 - our camp diary 2/10 GPR. Okay, so these sites are getting less and less relevant, but again, they are examples of possible stories that Kubbin.com users could tell and share.

Also, if members do demonstrations as appeared to be done at this scout camp, they could pass out our site name, put a link to us on their own homepage, send an email to all those interested in more, or we could create a "pass along card" that is a cool pocket set of rules, history or soemthing fun like that with our site on it. Make it a pdf, word, or just a printable screen.

The more I talk and draft out more ideas on this Kubb blog the more I see that in order to be as great and as inclusive as I've mentioned in several blogs, there will have to be some site design beyond my own meager web skills.

Ex: In the future, with a little bit of money we would greatly benefit our members by having some sort of feature that let others know how active they were in posting and how active their interest in Kub is. I've seen a lot of sites that I'm not sure how long ago they were made and if the "clubs" and whatnot they mention even still exist. It would be helpful for someone to know up to date information...especially when it came to tournament info.

KUBB - random freelance site.

3/10 GPR. These are the kind of sites that we want our Kubbin.com members to tell us about. We want to get a list of the members' individual sites that are almost not found on the web without prior knowledge.

These pages aren't linked to by many places...or at least the google toolbar option of "Backwards Link" doesn't work well.

Random thought: On the Kubbin' friends page (I think I like the name Kubbin' Community better) we could have the tournaments and festivals broken down into locations. We could even, with enough support and visitors, create a page for a specific region or country with facts such as holidays celebrated, good places to visit and places to stay as well as a list of the people they could kubb with while they're there.

Crazy, but maybe some would go for an idea like a Kubb Tour where a group of people get together and travel acros several states and play kubb with pre-defined sets of kubb enthusiests across the country. These arrangements could happen on our message boards or in the country pages. We'd have to let people know in our terms of use that we assume no responsibility for their behaviors outside of Kubbin.com.

The Morning News - Letter from the Editor

The Morning News - Letter from the Editor 4/10 GPR. weekly published online magazine...

If we weekly have artilces and archive them on the site we'll get tons more pages listed under google and such. This articles is # 70 under the search term "kubb game." But I'm sure that it does help the GPR of the page some.

Random thought: Give awards for the best Kubb site. Have users submit their own sites and give the top three a "Kubbin' Site Award" or something like that. This will encourage others to link to us with the award and we'll also let them be seen by other users, generating traffic for us and the awardee.

SportsFest VIII

SportsFest 3/10 GPR. A festival in PA. Dates: July 9, 10, 11.

This is the kind of site that we want to get a directory for...or become the directory for it. But if we have a comprehensive listing of these sites is there a chance that a directory will copy all the sites and then we become irrelavant? Perhaps not.

Garden Games Garden Games

Garden Games Garden Games 4/10 GPR. Man, if this isn't enough freakin' sites to go through and stuff, I don't know what amount is.

£49.99 for a basic set of Kubb, no color.

Grass Roots Activities Around the World - Poland

KUBB

GPR of 3.

Games from around the world.

Once a Tree: fine wooden products

Products: No GPR. "Viking Kubb Game"

Kubb is an ancient game played in Scandanavia since the time of the Vikings, and the similarity to a primitive form of chess is clearly apparent.
