Kubb (pronounced koob) is a popular Swedish game and has been passed down anciently as a Viking Game. There is much discussion on where it came from and how it came to be, but for that’s another story.
No matter how kubb began, the truth is that there are millions of people all over the world that enjoy Kubbin’ and we are among those people. What is Kubb you ask? Let us answer that question here and get you playing “koob” as soon as possible.
Kubbin’ is a way of life. It’s for young and old alike. Over the generations there have undoubtedly been many ways to play Kubb. House rules can be as different as the players who Kubb, but here we’ve assembled the basic rules needed to play the game of Kubb.
Kubb Game Rules
- Set up field with kubbs, king and markers.
- 1-6 people per team. 2 teams. Up to 12.
- Objective: tip all the other team’s kubbs.
- Toss the batons. No “helicopter” throws.
- After the last kubb is down, drop the king!
- Play in snow, on beach, grass or cement!
