Before man knew how to tie his own shoes (before he
even knew what shoelaces were) Vikings sailed the
great seas and in between pillaging villages they
would water ski behind their large Viking ships (If
you’d ever seen
Asterix and Cleopatra
you’d understand how this was done).
Enjoyable though it was there was still something
missing from the hard and fast life of the Vikings.
Searching,
they took to the island of Gotland, a small
bit of land off the coast of Sweden. They began to
create small
Viking communities in an attempt to domesticate their
voracious hungers and barbarous tendencies. Therefore they
gave up plundering, cleared the forests, and built little
towns.
However, strong and well learned were their behaviors
and stealing and killing and such ran in their blood.
Because of these age-old habits, these burly, bearded
men and women didn’t last long with out picking fights
between their neighbors.
One
day the head of the main Viking clan, his name just
happening to be Erik “Long-beard” Kubbin, sought
inspiration as to how to stop all the fighting and
killing between his clan members.
As
he sat there and pondered on his tree stump he was
alarmed to find that thought interrupted by a small
log hitting him in the head. Though anger welled up in
this father of all Vikings, he saw an opportunity in the
situation and What is Kubb? of Kubbin was born…
